6 STEPS TO PURSUE ANOTHER DEGREE:
STEP 1 - DECIDE ON YOUR MAJOR AND DEGREE TYPE
DECIDE ON YOUR MAJOR AND DEGREE TYPE. Make sure you are selecting a degree in a subject that will help you pursue your career goals. If you are having trouble deciding on a major/degree or understanding what major/degree is required for your career goals, then consult with your Program Director and meet with a Career & Transfer Services Advisor. See our contact information at the bottom of this site.

STEP 2 - FIND A SCHOOL THAT OFFERS THE PROGRAM YOU ARE LOOKING FOR
FIND A SCHOOL THAT OFFERS THE PROGRAM YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. Once you have narrowed down your degree and major, make a list of schools that offer that degree and major. If you are pursuing a degree in the same major as your Harcum program, then we recommend reviewing our list below of Schools by Harcum Major. If you need help finding program options, please make an appointment with a Career & Transfer Services Advisor and consider attending one of Harcum College's virtual or on-campus transfer fairs offered each semester.

EVALUATE AND RANK YOUR PROGRAM OPTIONS. Before applying to your list of schools, we recommend you identify your priority schools. You are welcome to apply to as many schools as you would like, but keep in mind that there may be an application fee plus a charge to send them your Harcum transcript. Make sure to consider the following factors of each school when evaluating them:
-
Is the program on-campus only, 100% virtual, or online? Is the campus accessible?
-
Are classes offered at a time when you are able to attend?
-
Is the program accelerated, meaning you could earn the degree sooner than a traditional degree program?
-
Will all or some of your Harcum credits transfer? Could you start your degree as a junior and complete the program in two years? Does the school offer dual enrollment programs with Harcum College? For all of these questions, please refer to the School Agreements section below, and make an appointment with the school's transfer advisor.
-
Can you afford the tuition and fees? Does the school offer scholarships for which you qualify?
-
What are the application requirements and can you fulfill all of those requirements? Does the school or individual program require prerequisite courses? Have you completed those or are you able to complete the courses that you still need to take?
-
What is the application deadline? Am I able to apply in time to attend the semester that meets my preferred timeline? If I am planning to start in the spring or summer semester, do they allow students to begin in those semesters?
STEP 4 - MEET WITH THE SCHOOL'S ADMISSIONS OR TRANSFER ADVISOR

MEET WITH THE SCHOOL'S ADMISSIONS OR TRANSFER ADVISOR. Before you apply to any school, it is very important to meet with an Admission or Transfer Advisor from the school. They can confirm application requirements, review your unofficial and official transcripts for transfer credits, and answer any questions that the school's website did not answer.

In addition to scheduling an appointment with the advisor, you can also meet school representatives through campus tours, school information sessions, and transfer events hosted by the school. Some schools offer instant decision events where you can be considered for admission on the spot. Harcum College offers in-person and virtual transfer fairs with many of the schools in the area, allowing you to meet with transfer advisors and have your questions answered.
STEP 5 - APPLY!

APPLY! Now that you have narrowed down your program options to your top picks, it is time to apply.
-
Always follow the admissions requirements as stated on the school's admission website, as stated in the school's agreement with Harcum (if applicable), or as identified by the schools admission advisor.
-
Identify if the school accepts the Common Application. This is a central application that many schools accept, which allows you to submit one application for all of the schools you are applying to that accept that application. However, not every school accepts the Common Application, so just be aware of this when you are applying.
-
Ask the school's admission advisor if there is an application fee waiver and how to apply for it. Do this BEFORE you submit the application. This waiver will eliminate the application fee for that particular school.
-
Submit your official Harcum transcript to the school by filling out the Harcum transcript request form here.
-
Some schools allow you to submit a letter of recommendation with your application. It is not always necessary, but highly recommended! Have a glowing letter about your work ethic and academic skill from your professor or Program Director can be a big plus in your application!
-
Double check that you have included all required elements in your application and then submit!
Many schools are rolling admission, so they will send you an admission letter within several days of applying. Otherwise, you may have to wait for your admission status until after the application deadline. You can also check your application status through your Common Application account or your account through the school's online application.
STEP 6 - DECIDE AND ACCEPT!

DECIDE AND ACCEPT! Congratulations on your acceptance to college! If you receive more than one acceptance letter from the schools to which you have applied, now is the time to do a final evaluation of your options and decide on the best one for you. Go back to the evaluation questions in step 3. You want to choose a school that allows you to earn the degree needed in your career path in the shortest amount of time and in the most affordable way possible. Ultimately, you want to make sure you will return to this school each semester to complete the program.
Once you have picked the school you want to attend, make sure you follow the steps in the acceptance letter for how to officially enroll. There may be a deposit you need to pay up-front and some schools require you to attend orientation events to maintain enrollment or to receive your scholarships. Make sure you fulfill all of these steps so you can attend classes on day one. Now it's time to celebrate your achievement!
